Navigating Your Future: BEST Careers in.. Industry, Entrepreneurship & Management

A panel of individuals representing different types of industry careers will share their advice, pros and cons of working in this environment, and how they transitioned from academia. Come armed with your own questions which will be discussed throughout the session.

Kent Göklen is a Cornell BEST mentor and GSK's Director of Downstream Process Development, in the biopharmaceutical business unit of GlaxoSmithKline in King of Prussia, PA. An alumnus of Cornell and MIT, he will answer your many questions about transitioning from academia into an industry career.


Jingwen Zhang is a Senior Scientist in the iMED Biotech Unit at AstraZeneca located in Waltham Massachusetts. Jingwen received her PhD in Pharmacology from Cornell in 2013 and did her postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and AstraZeneca. 


Craig Beil is a research scientist and project manager at Nature Source Improved Plants, a local spin off from Cornell, and was recruited to the area from Colorado State University. See his LinkedIn profile


Colin Jermain is a Data Scientist working for an early stage start-up company, Lucro, founded out of Cornell in the commercial real-estate space. He holds a PhD in Physics, and was the president of Technology Entrepreneurship at Cornell (TEC) during his time in Ithaca. See his LinkedIn profile
