The Brito Lab is hosting a Microbiome Hackathon April 13-14! Never been to a hackathon or even heard of one? That's okay! In general, hackathons are where people work in teams to solve interesting problems. Teams are made up of people from diverse majors and specialties to address problems in creative and novel ways. This hackathon will be focused on topics within the microbiome field. Teams will use principles from data science, computational biology, microbiology, and statistics to develop interesting questions and out-of-the-box solutions. The catch? Teams only have 30 hours to complete their projects. The hackathon culminates in a presentation where a panel of judges will select winners and award cash prizes on a variety of categories (most creative, best presentation, etc.).
Undergraduate and graduate students from all fields, majors, and experience levels are welcome. To learn more and to register for this fun event, please go to microbiomehack.org or feel free to email us with any questions.
