About the facilitator:

Mark Bayer developed this true-to-life training course based on years of insider experience as:

  • Chief of Staff in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. I routinely and rapidly boiled down complex legislative proposals, explaining them in clear, compelling ways to Members of Congress and journalists at The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, MSNBC, AP, and other major media outlets.
  • Management Consultant at PwC. I wrote speeches and communication pieces for agency leaders in the DC government, prompting one to make me an unsolicited offer to be communication director.
  • Workshop Presenter and Keynote Speaker: In my consulting work, I introduce grad students, PhDs, and postdocs to tools for shaping their message to suit the specifics of their audience. I've provided training for AAAS, March for Science, Cornell, UNC-Chapel Hill, Optical Society of America, Genetics Society of American, and others.
