Transition from Technical to Management Careers

Hosted by the Graduate and Professional Women's Network (GPWomeN) and the President's Council of Cornell Women (PCCW). Co-sponsored by the Graduate School.

Speaker: Dr. Yonn Rasmussen, '83, M.S. '86, PhD'89

PCCW Member and Cornell alumna Dr. Yonn Rasmussen will speak on how to transition your technical expertise into a management career. The workshop will discuss how a PhD can prepare you for industry and how to switch from technical to management roles. Participants will learn practical tips for first-time managers and how they can build organizational leadership. Dr. Rasmussen is Vice President of a multi-national engineering and manufacturing organization within Xerox Corporation responsible for technology, engineering, and global manufacturing of digital printer components and subsystems. She is a recipient of the Xerox President's Award and holds 29 patents. She received a PhD in materials science and engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester through the Executive Development Program.
