Presenting with Confidence
Using theatrical techniques, trainees learned to hone their presentation skills through exercises, practice and peer input. Facilitated by Melanie Dreyer-Lude, Professor of Acting and Directing at Missouri State, this workshop was one of three individual events to respectively engage women engineering graduate students, postdocs in MBG, and faculty across campus to improve communication skills.
Select postdoctoral scholars in the department of Molecular Biology and Genetics participated in a co-sponsored event by CU-CIRTL and BEST.
Using tricks of the trade, theatre artist and professor Melanie Dreyer-Lude will teach participants how to craft a compelling story, how to speak to be heard, and how to use posture and gesture to trick the mind into feeling more confident when speaking in public.
